Introducing the BOOTIE WASH...

ZEBRA MUSSEL

These mussels are so successful due to their prolific reproduction. Once introduced, they can reproduce to the point that their biomass is 10 times the biomass of native species.
Attaches to substrate and infrastructure in prolific numbers via byssal threads.

Quagga Mussels
Quagga mussels (Dreissena bugensis) and zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha) are small, freshwater bi-valve mollusks that posses the ability to reproduce rapidly and spread exponentially.

Didymo
Also known as “Rock’s Snot" despite its coarse, woolly texture, didymo can grow into thick mats that cover the river bottom.

Under the right conditions, prolific growth patterns result in thick mats that can cover river and stream bottoms. Didymo mats alter habitat and food sources for fish and can make recreation difficult or unpleasant. Mats can also foul water intakes and fishing gear as well as impact fishing access and wading.
